Experimental Evaluation of Brick Masonry Walls Strengthened with TRM (Textile Reinforced Mortar) Renders

نویسندگان

چکیده

Old masonry buildings, which are frequently part of the cities-built heritage, vulnerable to seismic actions. Thus, it is important conduct efficient strengthening interventions that allow maintenance existing building minimize environmental and economic impact. The use reinforced renders a simple effective solution for this type constructions. In paper, several compositions analyzed, consisting mortars with air lime, hydraulic or cement binders, steel mesh, fiberglass mesh natural fiber mesh. Additionally, results diagonal compression tests on three small wall specimens presented, one non-reinforced other two strengthened renders. all tested walls presented compared, allowing us evaluate efficiency render shear strength.

Effective stiffness of unreinforced brick masonry walls

Code design of Unreinforced Masonry (URM) buildings is based on elastic analysis, which requires as input parameter the effective stiffness of URM walls. Current approaches estimate the effective stiffness as fixed ratio of the gross sectional stiffness but comparisons with experimental results have shown that this does not yield satisfactory predictions. In this paper, a recently developed ana...

Effect of Mortar Type on the Seismic Response of Partially Grouted Reinforced Masonry Shear Walls

Since the establishment of ASTM standard C91, masonry cement mortars have become widely used for masonry construction in low to moderate seismic regions. However, the Masonry Standards Joint Committee Code prohibits the use of masonry cement mortars in lateral force resisting systems for structures that fall into Seismic Design Categories D, E, and F. The general objective of this study is to e...

Retrofit of Un-Reinforced Infill Masonry Walls with FRP

This paper describes an experimental program that deals with retrofitting of infill un-reinforced masonry walls (URM) with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP). The primary objective of this research is to develop a retrofit strategy that while economical will minimize the influence of the retrofit on the overall performance of structural frames in predominant seismic regions. Allowing some damage to...

Practical Nonlinear Analysis for Limit Design of Reinforced Masonry Walls

Two modeling techniques for practical nonlinear static analysis are implemented to support the development and usage of a new Limit Design method for special reinforced masonry shear walls. The new seismic design alternative is under consideration for future versions of the building code requirements for masonry structures in the U.S. The proposed simplified models were applied to a planar one-...

Study the Reinforced Concrete Frame with Brick Masonry Infill due to Lateral Loads

In the building construction, framed structures are frequently used due to ease of construction and rapid progress of work. Masonry infill panels have been widely used as interior and exterior partition walls for aesthetic reasons and functional needs. When infill walls are omitted in a particular storey, a soft storey is formed compared to much stiffer other stories. The masonry infill has bee...
